Show JSifes (Precious Qifts Isn't it funny how prone we are To just sit back and gaze at a star, And take for granted the things that are done By those we love, those friendly ones Who go out of their way to always be nice, And wlio think that the best just won't suffice For their friends. And we accept of their friendly deeds, Never thinking they may be in need Of a kindly word and a song of cheer, To help them cling to things most dear. " If only we would give more of our time, To help make this life more sublime; To ease'ihe load, help light the way To a great, a grand, a more glorious day. How happy we'd be as we go along, If we'd drop a kind word, a smile, or a song. A friendly greeting means so much, It's a way of creating that human touch, As we travel together the road of life. Filled with such sorrow and toil and strife. We would keep that commandment that Jesus gave, When God sent Him to earth our souls to save; "That ye love one another as I love you," It's such a grand thing to be asked to do. What a host of friends we would someday meet, As we gathered around the judgement seat, And Cod would preside in eternal glory, Telling again that wondrous story; I Of the plan of salvation given to man, To do the best with his time that he can. Of the straight and narrow path to pursue, That leads to glory for me and for you. Then would we know as the slory was told, Life's precious gifts are the friendships we hold. By Richard M.
