Show An Open Letter to People of Springville A few days ago, a very prominent promin-ent man of Springville made this timely remark. "I'd like to see our new elementary school named the Rowland-White school. Do you have any idea how many hundreds of children of this community have been started on the road to education educa-tion by Hannah Rowland and Lola B. White ? Here are two wonderful women who have dedicated their lives to children and I think it would be so fitting to remember their services to the people of Springville by adding their names to the portals of our new school." Well, the idea has stuck in my mind like a leech since then and I did a bit of inquiring. Both Miss y White and Miss Rowland have taught nearly 40 years in the elementary ele-mentary schools of Springville and a good many of those four score years they have served as principals of those institutions, and in all that time their love for children child-ren hasn't dimmed at all. Indeed they are beloved by the children who are associated with them today to-day as they were when we were in pig-tails and knee pants, and the influence they have had on the lives of hundreds of us I am sure we will never forget. Their zest for teaching children has been equalled only by their thirst for new knowledge for most every year during their brief vacation va-cation months, they have attended some special class, summer sessions ses-sions or institute to learn the newest new-est trends in education and the modern methods of teaching children. child-ren. When the idea was presented to Harold Christensen, school board member, he said he heartily endorsed en-dorsed it, but felt it should come from the people of Springville as a whole rather than from him. Hence, I am taking the opportunity oppor-tunity of presenting the idea to you, citizens of Springville, for your consideration." Take time out to think it over and voice your opinion along with that of your neighbor. Drop a card or a telephone tele-phone call to the Herald office now for the new school will soon be finished and ready for a name and a dedication toward preparing the minds of future citizens of the world.
