Show Naval Reserve Units Schedule Meetings Tonight, Friday A naval reserve meeting of the Naval Reserve Electronic Warfare Training Program will be held today in Provo at 7:30 p.m., at the Navy'Radio Bldg., Central "Utah Vocational School 1200 South University Ave. and at Payson Friday, July 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Payson high school gym. The Provo unit will meet each Thursday, 8 to 10 p.m., commencing commenc-ing Thursday, July 28. LCDR Donald Don-ald L. Manson USNR of Brook-side, Brook-side, is in charge of the unit. Each Naval Reserve unit has been or will'be supplied with radio transmitters, receivers, test equipment, equip-ment, furntiure, training films, typewriters, office supplies, etc., as necessary for training personnel for communications and electronic technician ratings. The Provo unit will also receive Radar and Sonar equipment. Any Reservist, regardless of rank or rating, is eligible to participate par-ticipate as a member of one of these units, and, if enough personnel person-nel not interested in communications communica-tions or electronics indicate a desire de-sire for a separate unit, such a unit can be allocated. Each member of the Naval Reserve Re-serve may advance in rating when qualified Training manuals for each rating will be issued, progress tests, and examinations conducted when time requirements are fulfilled. ful-filled. One of the benefits to be derived de-rived from participating in the Naval Na-val Reserve is becoming eligible for retirement under the provisions provi-sions of the recently passed Reserve Re-serve Retirement Act. A total of 20 years combined active and inactive in-active service in the Reserve qualifies quali-fies you for retirement, providing you have acquired sufficient points by activity in the Reserve. This will be explained more fully at the meetings. |
