Show 4 (Paragraphs Of j Interest ; . Mr. and Mrs. George Cox of Woods Cross, formerly of this city visited Sunday wtih their son, Bill Cox and family at Mapleton. Miss Barbara Bird, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Freeman C. Bird of Mapleton, has just been installed in-stalled as president of Brigham Young University's Home Economics Econo-mics club, according to Catherine Romney, advisor of the club. Miss Bird was graduated from Springville High School in 1945, where she was active in extra-curricular activities. She is now sophomore soph-omore at BYU, registered in the College of Applied Science, majoring major-ing in clothing. Wm. Bird spent the week-end in Salt Lake City with his son, Karl Bird and family, and attended the christening of the couple's new baby daughter. Mrs. E. M. Banks and daughter, Mrs. Lester Thomas of Spanish Fork visited Mrs. Alex Robertson at her home here Sunday. Ernest Boyer has returned from an enjoyable trip to Minneapolis, Minn., where he attended a convention con-vention of store owners and dealers. deal-ers. Upon his return, Mr. Boyer stated that much more merchandise merchan-dise is now available and it is of better quality, and he was able to purchase many heretofore scarce articles. Miss Teressa Sumsion, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Sumsion, was recently 'transferred from Mempis, Tenn., to Treasure Island, Calif., where she will be stationed with the WAVES. Her new duties take her to a WAVE galley where approximately 180 WAVES are fed Russell Palfreyman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Palfreyman, recently recent-ly sailed for Cuba with the Navy and expects to be stationed there for approximately six weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thorn have returned from an enjoyable trip to Chicago, 111., where Mr. Thorn attended the national convention of the Associated General Contractors Con-tractors of America, as president of the Intermountain branch. |
