Show Lions and Lady Lions Install New Heads At Wed. Dinner-Meet Deal Mendenhall, Springville contractor, was installed president of the local Lions club in formal installation ceremonies conducted on Wednesday evening of the past week at Chicken Roost. He succeeds suc-ceeds Vernon Castleton. During the evening also, Mrs. Lucy Roylance was installed president presi-dent of the Lady Lions to succeed suc-ceed Mrs. Madeline Despain. Officiating at the installation was Harold Guild of Spanish Fork, president of Dist. 28-A of Lions clubs, who was guest speaker of the evening. Assisting the new Lion president will be Jack Robertson, Charles Porter, Ivan Child, installed vice-presidents; vice-presidents; Melvin Simmons secretary; sec-retary; Lacelle Sumsion, treasurer; treas-urer; Loyd Bird, tailtwister; Ivan Child, Lion-tamer. Other officers of the Lady Lions are: Mrs. Emily Simmions and Mrs. Lucille Bird, vice-presidents; Mrs. Thelma Cherrington, secretary; secret-ary; Mrs. Olive Porter, treasurer; Dr. Mary King, tail-twister. In addition to Mr. Castleton, retiring re-tiring president, other former Lion officers include, DeVon Ford, J. C. Nielson and Arvil Bird, vice-presidents; vice-presidents; Wilford Manwaring, secretary; Wm.-Parry, treasurer; Claude Hill, tailtwister and Ivan Child, Lion-tamer. The new Lady Lions will replace besides Mrs. Despain; Mrs. Norma Castleton, vice-president and Mrs. Lula Perry, secretary-treasurer. The installation program featured fea-tured presentation of 100 percent attendance record pins to Vernon Castleton, J. C. Nielson, Ivan Child, Dr. C. A. King and Paul Frandsen. It was the third consecutive con-secutive year, Dr. King and Ivan Child have qualified for the attendance at-tendance awards. Mrs. Emily Miner was toast-master toast-master for the evening and announced an-nounced musical numbers by Gordon Gor-don Childs who rendered violin selections, accompanied by his brother, Douglas Childs. |
