Show Brookside Friends At Interesting Meet A group of Brookside friends met at the home of Mrs. Bert Strong recently to hear Mrs. Calvin Cal-vin Clyde relate the story of her life in Germany and Austria. Born in Germany, she went to school under the Nazi regime and had many interesting experiences to tell of the life in that country prior to the war. She was living with her family in Vienna at the time of the Russian invasion and experienced the terrors of the war along with the hunger and want although she explained that in many circumstances they were very fortunate. She also told of the conversion of her family to the LDS church. She explained the meeting with her American husband while he was a soldier in Vienna and later when he was again in Europe as an LDS missionary; mis-sionary; of their marriage and return to this country. She concluded con-cluded by expressing her happiness happi-ness at being here and her hopes that the rest of her family might some day be able to come to America. Mrs. Ernest N. Boyer sang two numbers from the centennial production "Promised Valley," accompanied by Mrs. Annie For-shee. For-shee. The group held their annual election and chose Mrs. Mary Wright as president and Mrs. Clara Turner, secretary. Luncheon was served to the members, the guest of honor, and an additional guest, Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Miner. |
