C, after visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Allan Al-lan and Mr. and Mrs. Welby Groes-beck Groes-beck and other relatives and friends in Springvilie. Mr. Allan is director of classification and wage administration at the Engineer Engi-neer Research and Development laboratories. Mrs. Allan is the former Dorothy Gammell. Visiting during the week-end. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Russell were, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Cooley and son of Cedar City, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Russell and two children of Los Angeles, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Russell and son of Tooele, Mrs. Gladys R. Williams Wil-liams of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Russell of Boise, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Miner and little son arrived in Springvilie recently re-cently from Portland, Oreg., to spend the summer with their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Clegg and Mrs. Margaret Miner. Mr. Miner has been attending Dental College in Oregon. Mrs. Hugh Bunker of Las Vegas, Veg-as, Nev., a sister of Mrs. Paul C. Miner, is visiting at the Miner home and also with another sister, Mrs. Lillian Correy. Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Obee and little lit-tle daughter Susan of Roswell, N. M., visited over the past week-end in Springvilie with Mrs. Obee's father, Lavell Ostler. They were enroute home from a trip to Seattle, Seat-tle, Wash., and other points of interest in-terest in the Northwest. Mrs. Obee is the former Fern Ostler. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil M. Johnson and two children of Burbank, Cal., have returned to their home following fol-lowing a two-weeks' visit with Mr. Johnson's mother, Mrs. Steve Kappas Kap-pas and other relatives and friends in Springvilie. Mr. Johnson works as a public accountant and has his own business management office in Burbank. ) Mr. and Mrs. Newell Weight and family are spending two weeks here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph B. Weight, while Newell, New-ell, who is music instructor at Dixie College, St. George, gives special instruction in a music course at the Brigham Young University. Mrs. George Weight visited the past week with her daughter, Mrs. Bernice Gunn and family in Salt Lake City and? also attended various vari-ous Centennial entertainments. Mr. and Mrs. Earl B. Mendenhall and daughter Linda and son Jeffrey Jef-frey of San Francisco, Calif., have returned to their home after spending spend-ing several weeks with Mr. and Mrs. John Holley and other relatives rela-tives and friends in Mapleton and Springvilie. Mr. and Mrs. DeVere C. Erb of Richland, Wash., visited the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Con-die Con-die and other relatives and friends in Springvilie and in Salt Lake City. They attended several Centennial Cen-tennial entertainments in Salt Lake City, and will continue their vacation to Michigan where they will soend some time with rela- Mr. and Mrs. Eldean Weight spent the past week visiting Mrs. Weight's parents and other relatives rela-tives and friends. A number of relatives motored to Centerville Tuesday evening to celebrate the birthday of Mrs. Le-nore Le-nore Weight Randall. The evening was spent in visiting and Mrs. Randall showed .her moving pictures, pic-tures, and delicious refreshments were served to the following: Mr. and Mrs. Verl Weight, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Weight, Fred Weight, Lyman Weight, Mrs. La Ree Baker of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Devere Weight of Tooele, and Mr. and Mrs. Randall. s Mr. and Mrs. Lester E. Davis visited relatives and friends in Og-den Og-den on Sunday. The Misses Carolyn and Lu Dean Pyper have returned from an enjoyable en-joyable vacation trip to the Northwest. North-west. At Portland, Oreg., they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Rose and also visited Dr. and Mrs. O. F. Heisley in Oregon City. The girls were gone seven weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Nate Arkin of Beverly Bev-erly Hills, Calif, have spent the past week visiting with Mrs. Ar-kin's Ar-kin's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Weight. Mrs. Arkin is the former Katherine Weight. Bill Dunievitz, son of Dr. and Mrs. Max Dunievitz of Auburn, Calif., has been a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Child, the past three weeks. Mrs. Nathaniel Ashby of this city, in company with her daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Roy C. Thompson of Los Angeles, Calif., went to St. George Wednesday Wed-nesday to go through the temple. Mrs. Thompson, who has been with her mother since the recent death of Mr. Ashby, returned to Springvilie for a longer visit, while Mr. Thompson returned to California. Minneapolis, July 30 Harold Glen Clark, director of extension at Brigham Young University, is attending the National University Extension Association's leadership training workshop being held at the University of Minnesota's Cen- Mrs. J. R. Norton, Mrs. Ruphas. Averett, Keith and Wendell Aver-ett Aver-ett and Donald Allan spent four days of the past week touring the canyons in Southern Utah. They went by way of the Skyline Drive and reported beautiful scenery highlighted by snowbanks and wild flowers. Mrs. A. W. Cherrington and Mrs. Belle W. Childs visited in .Murray last week with Mr. and Mrs. Blaine-Murdock Blaine-Murdock and family. On Thursday, they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Davis in Salt Lake City. RECOVERING Mrs. Edith T. Miner is recovering recover-ing from an operation for appendicitis appen-dicitis which she underwent Tuesday Tues-day at the Payson hospital. Mrs. Jack Perham and daughter Nancy left Sunday for San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Calif., for a visit with the former's sister, Mrs. D. H. Larson, and family, for a couple of weeks. m m Mr. and Mrs. Warner Thomas of San Francisco, Calif., are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. West Hutchings in Springvilie. They also visited in Spanish Fork and American Fork, attending various Centennial events. 5 Mr. and Mrs. Joseph B. Allan and son Eddie left Thursday for their home in Fort Belvoir, Va.( after visiting relatives and friends in Springvilie, Payson and Santa-quin. Santa-quin. Mr. Allan is employed by the government, doing sign painting, paint-ing, and is also attending school at the Columbia Technical Institute Insti-tute in Washington, D. C. Mrs. Allan was former Helen Nielson of Santaquin. Mr. and Mrs. 'j. Ray Clark and son, Ray and wife, have returned from a delightful vacation trip through the Northwest, also going to Vancouver, B. C, and down the coast to San Francisco, Calif., visiting vis-iting numerous places of interest enroute. Mrs. Artie Eggertsen of Salt Lake City, was a Sunday visitor at the home of her son, C. E. Eggertsen, Eggert-sen, and family. Other guests at the same home Sunday were Mr. Eggertsen's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Eggertsen. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Ostlund and daughter, Norma Rae, have returned re-turned from an enjoyable vacation trip to Sun Valley, Ida., and Jackson, Jack-son, Wyoming. Mrs. Lillian Correy left Sunday for Los Angeles, Calif., on a business busi-ness trip and to visit her brother, Dr. R. C. Bunker and other relatives, rela-tives, for a short time. E. V. Boorman has returned from a vacation trip to California where he visited for the last week with his son, Erie Jr., and family at Palo Alto, and with his son Richard and wife, in Fontana. He made the trip by plane. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Franks have had as their guests recently Mrs. Frank's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mellon of Great Falls, Mont. ter for Continuation Study this week (July 21-26). This workshop, the first in a three-year educational educa-tional program to be conducted by the National University Extension association, is designed to train extension leaders and to establish training methods. The project is being supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Morning Morn-ing sessions will include teaching methods in extension classes and correspondence study, and the afternoon af-ternoon sessions will be devoted to the institute and its function and audio-visual and visual methods and materials. |
