Show Safety Council Talks Over Safety Measures At the Safety Council meeting conducted Tuesday evening,' several sev-eral major problems were discussed discuss-ed in connection with safety measures to be undertaken with the opening of schools. . It was pointed out that in as much as schools are re-opening and many little ones will be entering enter-ing for the first time, everyone should be cautioned on the importance im-portance of safety habits. It was pointed out also that safety habits are not instinctive, they must be learned. Chief of Police H. M. Weight expressed the opinion that parents should be impressed with the need for home education on safety practices. Parents, he said, should be cautioned against undue sheltering of the child to the point that he or she will be at a loss if left alone on a street or highway. The child should have home training train-ing in self reliance and he should be taught how to behave safely in traffic, it was stated. , The responsibility for child accidents ac-cidents and for child safety, rests squarely upon the shoulders of every adult in the community, it was stated at the meeting. It is the responsibility of every motorist motor-ist to maintain his car and to drive so that he will be able to prevent an accident that might occur through a child's thoughtlessness. thought-lessness.
