Show w Hello, Daddy ! . . I ' v. '' - I " ' I - ' . . i . . . . .,- ' i . ' . ' . '!'; - LINDA LUCILLE HARRRISON My Daddy was so anxious that I be a little girl that he named me Linda Lucille before he left for overseas. On May 31 when I arrived he received the cablegram of my birth (it was three days later, however, in New Guinea) and was overjoyed that I had truly turned out to be a girl as he ordered, and he also won a 5-pound bet because I was a girl, too! I'm named "Linda" after my Gramps, Lynn W. Harrison, and "Lucille" after my grandmother, Lucille K. Dixon of Og-den. Og-den. Right now I am eight months old, have five teeth, a dimple in my chin, and wear ribbons in my hair and party " dresses until my Daddy writes that from my pictures, I look like a little "glamour girl!" Daddy sent me a dainty silver ring when I was born that he had made out of a shilling, and a lovely jade stone for a ring when I am a big girl. He also sent me a small parachute made . of nylon for Mommie to make me fancy dresses. My Daddy is Lt. Virl L. Harrison and right now he is in Leyte acting as Surveillance Office for the Ammunition Depots located there. He has been overseas 16 months serving "in New Guinea and the Admiralty Islands until he went in on the invasion inva-sion of Leyte in the Philippines. My Mother was the former Dorothy Dixon from Ogden, and we live with Daddy's folks while he is away, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Harrison. 329 South 2nd West. I am a pretty lucky girl, too, because since I was the first granddaughter, my Gramps and Grandmother in Ogden, Dr. and Mrs. Henry A. Dixon, gave me a $50 war bond, the day I was born. If you ever see me uptown, tell me "Hello," and I will say, "Da-da" back to you, because that is the only word that I know. You will recognize me by my blue buggy and large black dog who never leaves my side. He is Daddy's dog, Butch' and he surely takes good care of me 'til Daddy comes home. |
