Show MAPLETON MAN MISSING IN ACTION, FEB. 25 Lt. Harold Gividen Tiloted B-17 When Missing; In Europe Only Short Time Mr. and Mrs. Vance Gividen of Mapleton are anxiously awaiting await-ing further word concenfmg the whereabouts of their son, Second Lieutenant Harold Gividen, who has been missing since Feb. 25, in action over Germany. The telegram telling of their son's missing, was received by Mr. and Mrs. Gividen the latter part of last week. ' Lt. Gividen enlisted in the Army Air Corps in June, 1943, and he trained at Kearns, Pullan, Wash., at Santa Ana, and Tulare, Calif., at Tucson, Ariz, at Fort Sumner, N. M., where he received his commission com-mission on August 4, 1944; at Yuma, Ariz., at Tampa and Avon Park, Fla., and at Savannah, Ga., before going overseas in January of this year. He was a co-pilot on a B-17. He was born at Mapleton in October, 1924 and attended schools there and at Springville, graduating graduat-ing from the Springville high school in 1942. Awaiting further word from him, besides his parents, are four sisters and a brother, Mrs. A. B. Williams, Kathleen, Georgene, Mary Joe and Bert Gividen, Mapleton; Maple-ton; also his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gividen, Mapleton. |
