Show i i i LEGION AUXILIARY CONDUCTS MEETING Featuring the regular meeting of the Legion Auxiliary held Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, was the reading of the prize essays in the Auxiliary-sponsored contest in the Junior Jun-ior high school on the subject, "Thomas Jeffrson, His Contribution Contribu-tion to American Democracy." Reading their prize essays were Afton Ash, first-prize winner; I Shirley Hansen, second; Laurel Lowe, third, and Anna Fearl Herbert, Her-bert, fourth. The prizes were awarded by Mrs. Lela Nelson, i chairman of the essay contest. 1 During the evening, Maxine f Merritt entertained with two vocal ! solos, accompanid by Pauline Boy-i Boy-i er, and Nana Lee Walker gave a reading. A report on the recent OPA rulings in regard to prices was read by Janice Taylor. It was decided at the meeting to contribute con-tribute the sum of $25 to the Red Cross. A letter of appreciation for articles sent to the Veterans' hospital in Salt Lake, was also read during the meeting. Mrs. Zola Gogarty, unit president, was in charge of the meeting and Mrs. Hazel Hafen arranged the program. pro-gram. At the conclusion of the program, pro-gram, tasty refreshments were served by the hostesss, Mrs. La I Ru Walker, Mrs. Ruby Christen-sen Christen-sen and Mrs. Esther Johnson. |
