BOYER h ft n the battle fronts of a war-torn world i Our men are fighting today, ft M - They are weary and worn and homesick, B To be home on Christmas day. & They are sick of the din of battle f death, with its sickening smell, . h With the mud-soaked trench and fox hole And the sound of bursting shell. They are tired of waiting and watching For letters that never come, y h Of sleepless nights and wondering g If all is well at home. jjj They long for the warmth of their fkesides $ With the house all shining and clean, ft 5jj For curtains and carpets and warm soft beds, ft g Where nothing is ugly and mean. ft S , R They'd like to go out in the kitchen ft jjj With it's warmth and fragrant smells ft $ With mother and dad and the children $ The tree and the Christmas bells. H , $ They'd like a real bath in a bathroom ft With plenty of towels and time, And come out dressed in their Sunday best, w And give their hair a shine. -ft ft They'd likely borrow the family car ft And go down to the old Drug Store g And have a soda with all the kids ft 5 And just play around once more. f They would like a date with Betty, ' $ And go to a dance or show, h j And just laugh and sing and be happy fjji g With the ones they love and know. ft Many a boy would go to church ' And sing and say a prayer, jjs That men may find a lasting peace, g $ That every one can share. ft 6 . ft Let us kneel and pray this Christmas Time, jj $ For our boys and all the world . ii That men may learn a better way ft i1 That Christ's flag may be unfurled. ft 4 16 7.1 R |
