Show STUDENTS PLEDGE TO SORORITIES Students from Springville have figured prominently in events at Brigham Yonug university during the past week, with five being inducted in-ducted into Gamma Phi Omicron, home economics sorority, one being be-ing pledged to Lambda Delta Sigma, Sig-ma, national L. D. S. social fra-tehnity, fra-tehnity, and one being chosen as a chairman to help supervise the entertainment of delegates at the eighth annual conference of lnter-mountain lnter-mountain high school journalists. Beth Anderson, Phyllis Smart, Norma Shand, Louise Thatcher, and Gertrude Bartholomew were j pledged as members of the Gam-I Gam-I ma Phi Omicron sorority in im-presive im-presive candlelight initiation ceremonies cere-monies held at the home of Olive Winterton in Provo. A total of twenty-two girls who are majoring major-ing in home economics, were chosen to be pledged at these ceremonies. cere-monies. Louise Thatcher, in addition to being pledged to Gamma Phi Omicron, Omi-cron, was also made a member of Lambda Delta Sigma fraternity in formal initiation exercises conducted con-ducted by the Zeta chapter of B. ' Y. U., Sunday, November 17. Marvin Mar-vin E. Smith of Provo, president of the Alpha chapter for men, was I in charge of the initiation. Forty-! Forty-! seven students from six states and 1 two foreign countries were pledged. Under the leadership of Phyllis Smart, who also figured in the Gamma Phi Omicron pledging, I White Key, girls' service sorority at the B. Y. U. will aid Blue Key, men's service fraternity, in supervising super-vising the entertainment of delegates dele-gates at the eighth annual conference con-ference of the inter-mountain high school journalists, to be held at B. Y. U. December 7. Miss Smart is president of White Key. 1 i A full month earlier than last year's publication date, White Key sorority placed 1500 copies of the 1940-41 edition of the annual B. Y.
