Show guardImt inspected The local unit of the National Guard stood a regimental inspection inspec-tion by Colonel W. F. Wieler and Major Underwood of Salt Lake City Monday evening. Colonel Weiler, in speaking to the unit at the close of the drill complimented them on marked improvements im-provements which he thought they had made since his last inspection. inspec-tion. During the course of his talk, he mentioned the advantages of the National Guard enlisted men over the draftees. He stated that those who go in under the draft are suoject to call after one year's service for ten years, and those who enlist with the guard are through as soon as their period of enlistment expires. His first visit to the local unit as the unit instructor, Major Underwood Un-derwood replaces Major L. W. Prentiss of Reno, Nevada. Major Underwood came to the unit from foreign service. During his service abroad for three and a half years, he designed some and renovated practically all foreign embassies in continental Europe and was forced to return due to the advent of the European war. Major Underwood remarked on his experiences in Europe and also complimented the officers on the appearance of the armory. During the coming week, all married men who are eligible for discharge will be given their dismissal dis-missal papers by the local unit. There will be about 15 vacancies to be filled immediately prior to induction. Those registered under the draft are eligible to join. Harvey Ippach, a draftee.
