Show CORRECT RADIO NEWS POLICY IS RECOMMENDED The Columbia Broadcasting System Sys-tem is to be commended for its effort to preserve the integrity of its news reports. There is no excuse ex-cuse for the silly Criticism that has been directed 'against the policy pol-icy by so-called chabpions of free speech. As we understand the matter, the broadcasting company employs news reporters and analysts and now insists that they report the news, without opinions or any effort ef-fort to sway public opinion. This is no attempt to prohibit the freest expression of opinion in other features of the broadcasting schedule. The non-editorial rule applies strictly to news reports and news analyses. In the newspaper field, there is an interesting parallel. No newspaper news-paper should use its news columns for the purpose of propaganda or color the news reports that it prints in order to prevent the public pub-lic from forming its own conclu sions. |
