MINER, " i Since the Geneva Steel Plant started construction the housing situation in Springville has been one of the outstanding problems, and at the present time it is still in a critical stage. Every day, to the office of the Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, come inquiries often as many as ten a day searching for a place to live. Furnished apartments apart-ments are in constant demand as well as homes furnished or unfurnished. unfur-nished. Many of the citizens of our community com-munity have remodeled their homes and supplied a number of apartments, apart-ments, both furnished and unfurnished, unfur-nished, but not near enough to satisfy sat-isfy the demand, and as a result of this activity many very fine, progressive, and desirable families have located here in our community commun-ity and many more want to come. Most of the families who have come during the past year have been those of mechanics, articians,1 and laborers for the construction companies and are, therefore, temporary tem-porary residents. However, the Steel Plant is now beginning a training program to utilize available avail-able workers for the operation of the huge new $190,000,000 plant and many of the men who are now working in construction will become be-come regular employees in the production side. Many of these men who came for construction work have expressed themselves to the secretary of the Chamber of Commerce that if they can find a home here in Springville they will stay and make their home here. It is anticipated, however, that at least 1200 experienced steel workers must be brought in, regardless re-gardless of the present conditions, as there are no such workers at present in this area.
