Show KOLOB LUMBER 4 DROPS 2-1 SOFTBALL TILT Local Girls Lose First Contests Of Season To Shamrock-Footprinters The Springville Kolob Lumber Girls' Softball team opened their 1943 softball season here Monday Mon-day night when they tangled with the Shamrock Girls of Salt Lake City in a close and interesting inter-esting game. The Kolob Girls dropped the contest 2 to 1 after Beverly Twelves and Naomi Arlington, Ar-lington, pitchers for Kolob and Shamrock's, respectively, exhibited exhib-ited a hot pitchers' duel. Although the game lagged in srioijing; interest for the most part, the pitchers' duel and infield in-field plays kept the game interest inter-est high. Not until the fifth inning did the score column get a mark in for either club. The Shamrocks pushed two counters over. Springville's lone counter came in the last half of the last inning inn-ing when Lenore W. Kelly clouted clout-ed out a home run in left field. Sunday night the Shamrock Ten defeated the Kolob team 4-1 in Kolob's initial game of the year. The game was played in Salt Lake's White park. John Robison's Junior Girls' softball team was defeated by the Pleasant Grove Girls 4-5 in the preliminary game of the July 4th celebration program Monday evening. eve-ning.
