Show PRESIDENT GIVES REPORT ON NATIONAL MEET Jaycees Also Plan To Carry On Project Of Sending Herald To Local Boys In The Service A detailed report of the proceedings pro-ceedings of the recent national war conference of the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, held in Chicago, was given members of the local Jaycee organization orga-nization at their regular meeting held Thursday evening in the Memorial Me-morial Hall by Kay Johnson, the president. Mr. Johnson attended the meeting in company with Ray Richards of this city, state president presi-dent of the Jaycee organizations. He stated that the national meeting meet-ing was streamlined this year, due to transportation problems, and only local presidents and national directors, along with state officers, offi-cers, were in attendance. The meet was also purely business in furtherance furth-erance of the war effort, no entertainment en-tertainment being arranged. Mr. Johnson gave excerpts from many of the talks presented by officers in the Army and Navy, and nationally prominent government govern-ment representatives which proved exceptionally interesting and educational. edu-cational. During the meeting, President Johnson announced that the judging judg-ing in the Victory Garden contest had been completed, with the $10 in war savings stamps being awarded to W. B. Clark for his outstanding garden, located on South Main, just north of Jack's Service. It was also decided that the Jaycees would carry on their project pro-ject to send the Springville Herald Her-ald to the boys in the service. The original funds raised for this purpose pur-pose are depleted, but the club members were heartily in favor of working out another project for this project. Before adjournment, it was announced an-nounced that the next regular meeting would be in the form of an outing with the ladies in a nearby canyon, and the following meeting would be held on the showboat on Utah lake. |
