Show CONVERSION HAS JUST BEGUN, STATES NELSON The people of the United States can get a fair idea of what is ahead of them by considering the recent statement of Donald M. Nelson, war production chief, who reports that the production of munitions has tripled since Pearl Harbor. At the same time, Mr. Nelson points out that less than one-sixth of the money appropriated for war has been paid out for goods and services received. The conversion conver-sion of civilian industry to war work has just begun and before the nation reaches its peak of production, pro-duction, there will be drastic curtailments cur-tailments in the production of non-war non-war products. In Great Britain "essential" goods have been limited to what are called "utility" models. The same result Is inevitable in this country. |
