Perry, well known in Springville and Mapleton, is today observing his 83rd birthday at his home in Mapleton. Especially active ac-tive for his years, Mr. Perry drives his own car, is interested in current cur-rent events, and participates in all community activities. He was born in Springville, August Au-gust 13, 1859, a son of Stephen C. and Mary Boggs Perry, early pioneers. He has watched the progress pro-gress of this city and Mapleton from settlements of a few pioneer homes to their present proportions. propor-tions. He moved to Mapleton in 1885 and has taken a prominent part in educational and religious activities of that community. He was chairman of the old folks' committe for 18 years, and was one of the first school trustees from the Mapleton district. During his early life he did considerable railroad construction work. He has filled two missions, one in 1909 and another in 1918. During Dur-ing his later years he farmed and is still doing considerable farm work. His wife, Luella R. Perry, whom he married in March, 1884, died six years ago. He has a daughter, Mrs. Reva Curtis, of Nephi, also seven grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. |
