Show WAR TAX PROBLEM DISCUSSED BY BRITISH OFFICERS An interesting idea comes from the British House of Lords, where Lord Perry suggests the creation of some form of international taxation taxa-tion so that posterity will no be bequeathed "this enormous debt we are incurring." The British peer asserted that peace is worth buying and that "the world should help pay that price." He asks the government to consider how the price of peace could be capitalized in international interna-tional terms and financed through international taxation just as nations na-tions now finance their debts. The member of the House of Lords seems to have something. When peace comes, the management manage-ment of the world will be in the hands of the United States, Great Britain, Russia, and China. Certainly, Cer-tainly, the four nations should be able to devise a method of international inter-national taxation which would distribute dis-tribute the war debt of the United Nations throughout the world. Certainly, Cer-tainly, the world will benefit from the principles to be upheld, as well as from the era of peace which will follow, and should bear the costs. |
