Show ERNEST BOYER SERVICES HELD Services for Ernest M. Boyer, Sr., 6 9, who died Wednesday morning at the family residence, 85 North Second West street, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 p. m. in the Springville Third ward chapel, with Bishop G. C. Laney presiding. An early Springville railroad and highway contractor, he was born April 15, 1871, in Springville, Spring-ville, son of John Sell and Julia Ann Crandall Boyer. At the age of 13 he assumed adult responsibilities responsi-bilities and worked as a partner with Boyer Brothers, building for the Western Pacific railroad, the D. & R. G. W., the U. P. and the L. A. & S. L., and in early highway construction in the western west-ern states. He filled a mission in the North Central States, served two terms on the Springville City council, and was city justice from 1926 to 1930. He attended school at the Brigham Young university and the U. S. A. C. at Logan. He married Glida Rakestraw, March 30, 1898, in the Salt Lake temple. She died August 13, 1931. Mr. Boyer had always been prominent in church work. During his later years he followed the vocation vo-cation of poultry and stock raising. rais-ing. Survivors Include one son, Ernest Er-nest M. Boyer, Jr., Springville; three daughters, Lela Packard and Betty Sumsion, Springville, and Delia B. Bird of Salt Lake City, and the following brothers and sisters: John S. Boyer, M. A. Boyer, Springville; Dr. D. D. Boyer, Boy-er, Provo; Bishop I. W. Boyer, Arco, Idaho;, and Mrs. Ida Porter, Por-ter, Springville. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery under the direction of the Claudin Funeral home. |
