Show SARAH WITNEY HONORED ON 88lh BIRTHDAY Relatives and friends paid tribute to Mrs. Sarah F. Witney, widow of George Witney, Friday at her home on the occasion of her eighty-eighth birthday. Widow Of George Witney and a resident of Springville since 1898. Mrs. Witney graciously received re-ceived callers all day Friday. She was born in London, England, Eng-land, October 18, 1852. Mrs. Wit-sey Wit-sey emigrated to New Zealand in 1870, with a brother and a sister, to help colonization of that country. count-ry. Soon after her arrival, she was married to Mr. Witney, who had gone to New Zealand several years earlier. The couple lived in New Zealand Zea-land until 1898, when, with five sons and daughters, they were converted to the L.D.S. church and came to Utah, settling in Springville. Spring-ville. Two daughters remained in New Zealand. Mrs. Witney has taken active part in L. D. S. church affairs I and was a Relief society teacher more than 30 years. She has six sons and daughters: Mrs. Alice W. Johnson, William Witney; Daniel Witney of Springville; Spring-ville; Mrs. Sarah Winnie of Pay-, Pay-, son; Lucy Witney of New Zealand; Zea-land; George Witney of Fort Lyon, Colorado, 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. |
