Show 'NEW OFFICERS NAMED AT JAYCEE MEET Kay Johnson Named President Succeeding Grant Thorn; Installation Set For April 1 Kay Johnson, retiring secretary of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, was elected president of the club for the coming year at a meeting last Thursday evening at Memorial Hall. Grant Thorn, retiring re-tiring president, was in charge of the program. Other officers elected include: Dr. R. C. Petty, first vice-president; Verl Whiting, second vice-president; vice-president; Lee Miner, secretary; Ernest Boyer, treasurer; Ray Klauck, Carl Alleman and Howard Maycock, two-year directors; Reed Averett, Francis Hazel and Glen Tipton, one-year directors. Ray L. Richards was released from the board of directors due to his pressing duties as president of the state Junior Chamber of Com- merce, but the group voted to retain re-tain him as an associate director in an advisory capacity. The retiring officers In addition to Mr. Thorn, were Bill Ruff and Reed Averett, vice-presidents; Kay Johnson, secretary and Earl Lund- quist, treasurer; Taylor Burt, Carl Atkinson and Maurice Anderson, directors. During the meeting it was also voted to contribute $10 to the Red Cross war fund drive and every member present pledged 100 per cent participation in the drive. Kimball Larsen and Glenn Hansen Han-sen were named as a committee to formulate a resolution which was presented at the state directors' meeting in Salt Lake City last Sunday, Sun-day, in which the local organization organiza-tion took stand against present conditions at the state tuberculosis tuberculo-sis sanitarium at Ogden. The state organization sought legislation during the current session to have the conditions at the hospital improved im-proved and corrected. President Thorn gave an annual report on activities carried on during dur-ing the past year. The year was one of outstanding accomplishments accomplish-ments and the enrollment of the Junior Chamber of Commerce was increased from 25 to 57 members, the report indicated. It was announced during the evening that the annual installation banquet for new officers of the club will be held on April 1, the exact time and place to be announced an-nounced at a later date. |
