Show INFORMATION ON RATION PROGRAM A total of 7,070 War Ration Book Two was issued in Springville Spring-ville during the week of February 23, according to the report submitted sub-mitted to the OPA state office by Glenn Hansen, chairman of the local board. The local board has received word that it may issue purchase certificates to supplement the regular reg-ular 48 points per ration period in cases where unusual hardship would be suffered if the supplemental supple-mental rations are not issued. This will apply particularly to sheep-herders, sheep-herders, miners, and others who are not near enough to markets to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, vegeta-bles, and who are unable to raise their own to supplement the 48-point 48-point ration, Chairman Hansen said. Sugar Stamp No. 12, which becomes be-comes valid on March 16, will be good for 5 pounds of sugar. The reason for validating the coupon for five pounds is twofold: It will save manpower not only in pack- aging the sugar, but in requiring less handling. It will also put nearly near-ly one-half the actual number of packages to be handled and prevent pre-vent waste now involved in the present small package size. Consumers Con-sumers were warned to use their 5 pounds carefully, however, since it must last over ten weeks from March 16 through the end of May and is, therefore, a slightly lower weekly ration than consumers have received in the past. , ' Consumers, as well as retail sellers of gasoline, were urged to accept in good grace the procedure which must be followed by gasoline gaso-line station attendants before selling sell-ing gasoline. In order to be sure gasoline ration coupons are being used legally, the station attendant must ask to see the motorist's ration ra-tion book, check the windshield sticker and the license plates before be-fore he lays a hand on the pump. He must be sure the vehicle is the same as described on the ration book cover. He may deliver no gasoline if the expiration date on the book has passed unless there are enough coupons for the current cur-rent period to cover the purchase and unless the coupons are properly proper-ly endorsed on the back by the purchaser. He can not accept loose coupons, but must detach them from the book, himself. Failure Fail-ure to follow this procedure is a violation of the gasoline regulations, regula-tions, it was stated. |
