SEVERAL PARTIES HAVE BEEN GIVEN by Mr. and Mrs: Elvin Sumsion and other relatives the past week to honor Mr. and Mrs. Reed Perry of Oakland, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Brown and little son of Hollywood, Calif., who are visiting visit-ing here and in Provo. On Thursday evening, a delightful delight-ful family party was given at Cherry Camp in Hobble Creek for the visiting guests of honor, and on Tuesday evening members of the family, with Mr. and Mrs. Perry Per-ry and Mr. and Mrs. Brown, enjoyed enjoy-ed a canyon supper at Canyon Glen in Provo canyon. 9 ! A marriage of interest here this j week was that of Frank Witney, son of Daniel Witney of this city, and Ramona Gurley, daughter of , Mr. and Mrs. David Gurley of Salt Lake City. The ceremony was per- ' formed Monday afternoon in the Manti temple, and the couple left on Tuesday for Fort Lewis, Wash. The bride is a graduate of Brig-ham Brig-ham Young university, where she ! was prominent in scholastic affairs. af-fairs. The groom was a junior at the B. Y. U., when he left for the service with the National Guard. He was an outstanding athlete throughout high school and also at Brigham Young university. MR. AND MRS. RAY SCOVIL ENTERTAINED WEDNESDAY evening at a nicely arranged chicken dinner at their home in Mapleton for a group of friends. Covers were arranged for Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Packard, Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Bird, Mrs. Alton Hark-er, Hark-er, and Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Conover. Following dinner, the guests enjoyed the evening with music and social conversation. MRS. KYLE SMITH WAS HONORED recently with a bridal shower given giv-en by Vera Christensen and Mrs. Lee Bartholomew at the Bartholomew Bartholo-mew home. Mrs. Smith was the former Gertrude Bartholomew. The group enjoyed the evening with games and a delicious luncheon lunch-eon and the guest of honor received receiv-ed many beautiful gifts. In attendance atten-dance were 30 relatives and close friends. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Morgan have just returned from an enjoyable enjoy-able three-week trip to Arizona and New Mexico.
