Show NOVEMBER ROLL t CALL OF RED CROSS POSTPONED The Red Cross will not hold its annual Roll Call in November, but the drive will be combined with its next war fund appeal, scheduled for March, 1943. This decision will strike most of us as reasonable and impress upon us all, as President Roosevelt says, that the month of March, 1943, is "Red Cross month." The decision of this great organization, or-ganization, valuable in peace and war, not to participate in joint fund-raising campaigns is wise. Naturally, the Red Cross wants to "maintain direct contact with the people who constitute its membership" member-ship" and this would be impossible in any consolidated campaign drive. The Red Cross is big enough and worthy enough to have its own campaign. It should retain its distinctive dis-tinctive organization and maintain itself for direct service to the people peo-ple in disasters and to the armed forces during war. |
