Show WINS 4-H HOME PRIZE y, V i ' 7 '' I ' " j feat- U X .AL., "ZA uS,?,.,,., -rij-aj CREATING more natural beauty in home surroundings brings a coveted reward to Lena Hadley, 17, of Ogden. She is named Utah's 1941 winner in the national 4-H home grounds beautification contest con-test conducted by the state extension exten-sion service, for which she will receive a 17-jewel gold watch given by Mrs. Charles R. Walgreen, Chicago Chi-cago horticultural enthusiast. The girl won first place in the 1939 county junior flower garden contest, con-test, and second place on flowers In the open class. She has stimulated stimu-lated a clean-up and remodeling program on her parents' farm, drawn up a scale drawing of the home grounds and made a plan for future planting. She has helped start a windbreak, planted a flower garden, shrubs and bulbs, and placed trellises in the garden. She will compete for the Western sectional award of a trip to the 20th National 4-H Club Congress to be held In Chicago Nov. 28-Dec. 6. |
