Show WINNERS NAMED IND.U.P. SONG CONTEST Many Compositions Entered In Contest To Find Song Appropriate For City Winners of a contest sponsored by the four camps of Springville Daughters of Utah Pioneers Camp Kolob, Camp Aaron Johnson, John-son, Camp Springville, and Camp Hobble Creek to find a suitable song to be used on any occasion honoring Springville, were an- nounced today. Mrs. Clara G. Boyer, with music and words entitled "Springville," was judged winner of first place, with second place going to Dr. Frederick Dunn for his composition composi-tion entitled "To Springville," and honorable mention to Mrs. Jessie Dalton for her "Springville, City of Our Dreams." Competent judges selected by the D. U. P. spent considerable time going over the nine compositions composi-tions submitted, and found it difficult dif-ficult to make a decision, so close were the number of entries. Some very fine work was seen in every song, according to the judges. Cash prizes were offered for first and second place winners. The first place song, which will be found in the Herald today, will be used hereafter on many occasions oc-casions in which the city receives special recognition and will in all probability be adopted as a camp song by the D. U. P. of Springville. Spring-ville. The other two compositions receiving re-ceiving recognition will be published pub-lished in later issues of the Herald. Acting as a committee in sponsoring spon-soring the song contest were the captains of the four D. U. P. camps, with Mrs. Josie Alleman, chairman, assisted by Mrs. Emma Beardall, Mrs. Beth Barrett, and' Miss Anna Beardall. |
