Show One Determine just how much sugar you will need. A top limit of 25 pounds per person is set by the new regulation and is allotted one pound for each four quarters, or eight pounds, of the finished product. Within this 25-pound limit, lim-it, any family can apply to put up jams, jellies and preserves at the rate of five pounds per individual. Two Take this information and a copy of war ration book No. 1 for each person for whom home canning sugar is sought to your local ration board. In Springville City, this board is located at the city hall. Hours are from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. daily, including Saturday. Satur-day. This also will make it easier to carry the purchase home and at the same time spread out the limited supplies of sugar. pour Each sugar allowance 'coupon . will be marked with the serial number of war ration book No. 1 and the book itself must be presented to the retailer for checking check-ing whenever a coupon is "spent." Unless book number and coupon numbers correspond, the retailer cannot honor the coupon. Gifts of home-canned foods, both fruit and vegetable, may be made, but no one person can give away more than 50 quarts. |
