Show Ruth Mendenhall - William Dixon Salt Lake Marriage Announced . An interesting nuptial announcement an-nouncement this week is that of the marriage of Miss Ruth Mendenhall, Men-denhall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Mendenhall, to William Dixon Dix-on of Salt Lake City, son of Mrs. William D. Dixon of Payson. The marriage took place Tuesday, Tues-day, April 15', in the Salt Lake temple. The couple plan to leave soon on a short wedding trip to St. George, after which they will leave for San Francisco, where Mr. Dixon will sail for the South Sea Islands. He is employed at a government gov-ernment air base there. The bride is a graduate of the Springville high school and a former for-mer student of the Brigham Young university. For the past two years she has been conducting a beautician's beauti-cian's establishment in Salt Lake City. Tuesday night, a party will be given honoring the young couple at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Alberta Hoover. SOCIAL TWELVE ENTERTAINED MONDAY An enjoyable evening was spent by members of the Social Twelve club Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Hugh Baxter. Luncheon was served first from small tables centered with daffodils, daffo-dils, after which bridge was played, play-ed, with Mrs. Lee Sumsion winning win-ning high score. Twelve club members were present. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Lewis Clegg, Thursday, April 24. i . EFFAN BEE CLUB HAS PARTY Mrs. Ruth Roylance was hostess hos-tess to members of the Effan Bee club Thursday night at her home. Feature of the evening's entertainment enter-tainment was a review of the book, "Demon Daughter," by Hon-ore Hon-ore Morrow, given in an interesting interest-ing manner by Mrs. Mae Huntington. Hunting-ton. Thoughts for the evening were given by Mrs. Lanette Olsen. Luncheon was served to Mrs. Ina Christensen, Mrs. Margaret Christensen, Mrs. Mildred Larsen, Mrs. Nola Palfreyman, Mrs. Lanette La-nette Olsen, Mrs. Rowena Rigtrup, Mrs. Phyllis Nielson, and Mrs. Reva Roylance. WHITNEYS COMPLEMENTED AT FAREWELL PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Whitney, Jr., who are leaving Mapleton soon, were guests of honor at a farewell party Wednesday night at the Whitney home. Luncheon was served first, after which progressive .games were played. The following attended: Mr. and Mrs. Austin Houtz, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Tew, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Whitney, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Willis Dibble, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Sorensen, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Young, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Nielson, Niel-son, and the guests of honor. AD LIBITUM CLUB ENTERTAINED Carrying out a spring theme in table decorations, a delightful party was held by members of the Ad Libitum club Monday evening at the home of Miss Elaine Crandall. Cran-dall. Luncheon was served at small tables centered with daffodils, after af-ter which bridge was played, with Mrs. Wanda Peay winning the prize for high score and Ercell Clark the guest prize. Members present were Mrs. Wanda Peay, Mrs. Evelyn Jordan, Miss Ida Packard, Miss Aileen McKenzie, Mc-Kenzie, Mrs. Helen Rowland, Miss Lola Smith, Mrs. Hortense Har-ward, Har-ward, Miss Dona Collins, Miss Margaret Peirce, Miss Naomi Peirce, and special guests were Miss Ercell Clark, -Miss Delia Baxter, Bax-ter, Mrs. Cora Ellis, Miss Aurlene Christensen, and Miss Clara Harmer. Har-mer. W. N. O. CLUB ENTERTAINED A delightful club party this week was that given for members of the W. N. O. club Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Glenita Ollerton. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Theda Child and Mrs. Le6na Wilson. Luncheon was served first, according ac-cording to an Easter theme, with clever rabbit centerpieces centering center-ing the tables, and special Easter cards marking places for the guests. The evening was spent playing Scotch bridge with prizes going to Emma Jex for first and to Alta Ollerton for consolation. Those present were Orris Child, Billie Strong, Virginia Peterson, Emma Jex, Noma Thorpe, Winnie Mower. Mary Averett, Maurlne Mortensen, Alta Ollerton, and the hostesses. |
