Show More Than Three Hundred Attend Outstanding State-Wide Federated Clubs Art Tea Saturday SECOND WARD GLEANERS BIND SHEAF SUNDAY NIGHT Beautiful in every detail was the sheaf binding ceremony conducted con-ducted by the Gleaners in the Second Sec-ond ward Sunday night. Attired in bteautiful formal gowns and wearing corsages, the girls participated in the ceremonies ceremon-ies which were the first ever to be conducted in any of the Kolob stake wards. Gleaner work during the past year and the sheaf binding program pro-gram has been under the direction direc-tion of Mrs. Earl Cook. Following the meeting, a fireside fire-side chat was held under the sponsorship spon-sorship of the ward M. I. A. officers. offi-cers. Mrs. May Groesbeck entertained enter-tained with a short story and remarks re-marks were made by Mrs. Harold Christensen and Mrs. Rhea Straw, stake board members. In recognition of the good work done by the M Men and Gleaner Girl officers, tokens of appreciation apprecia-tion were presented to them by Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Ottesen, with Mrs. Ottesen making the presentation. presen-tation. DENTISTS ENTERTAINED AT BANQUET WEDNESDAY Members of the Provo District Dental society and their wives were entertained Wednesday evening eve-ning at 6 p. m. at the Valley Tavern. Tav-ern. Dr. L. E. Ottesen, acting as toastmaster, introduced an especially espe-cially interesting program, including includ-ing vocal solos by Virginia Bird. Mrs. Mae Huntington gave an interesting in-teresting and instructive talk on art, after which the group were taken through the art galleries. The long dining table was centered cen-tered with daffodlis and other spring flowers, and places were set for approximately forty. CALVIN ALLAN HONORED AT BIRTHDAY PARTY Complimentary to Calvin Allan on the occasion of his eighth birthday, a party was given Monday Mon-day evening at the home of Mrs. Wilbur Allan. Miscellaneous games were played, play-ed, after which luncheon was served serv-ed to twenty-five guests. The guest of honor received a number of birthday gifts. PARANADA CLUB TO MEET TONIGHT Merlaue Tew will be hostess to members of the Paranada club this evening at her home in Mapleton. Ma-pleton. An excellent 3-act play will be read by a student from the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young university, and all members are invited to be present. II PROGRESSO CLVB OF SAUNA ENTERTAIN ED Following dinner at the Valley Tavern, members of the LTro-gresso LTro-gresso club of Salina were conducted con-ducted on an art tour of the gal- -leries Friday, with Mrs. Mae Huntington Hun-tington explaining the pictures. ' Later the group assembled at the home of Mrs. Emma Kennedy, where luncheon was served by Mrs. Kennedy, who was a member of the club while living in Salina. Fifteen members and guests attended, at-tended, and Mrs. Do.nloe. Kennedy Ken-nedy of Salt Lake City was a special spe-cial guest. LEGION AUXILIARY HAS MONTHLY MEETING With President Ada Barron in charge, Legion Auxiliary members mem-bers held their monthly meeting Wednesday evening at the Memorial Memor-ial hall. An interesting program was given giv-en in which students of the high school political science department depart-ment under the direction of Hugh Boxter, discussed Pan-American problems. Talks were given by Dick Holley, Paul Eggertsen, and Mark Eddlngton. Louis Maiben entertained with a vocal solo, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs .Arvil Bird. During a short business meeting, meet-ing, it was decided to hold the annual Mothers' day program on May 13, at 2 p. m., in place of the regular evening meeting. President Barron also announced announc-ed that the Legion Auxiliary would visit the art gallery in a group on Friday, April 18. Reports on recent entertainments entertain-ments given by the Auxiliary were made by Secretary Hilda Grant. Concluding the meeting, dainty refreshments were served by Hostesses Hos-tesses Flora Maiben, Ella Crandall and Vivian Johnson. Cornaby, president of the first district dis-trict of the UtaE Federation of Women's clubs; Mrs. Alice Merrill Home, state art patron; Mrs. Mae Huntington, publicity director of the art committee; presidents of the seven sponsor federated clubs, Mrs. Selvoy Boyer, Mrs. F. C. Packard, Mrs. Paul Thorn, Miss Delia Baxter, Mrs. Max Sumsion, Mrs. Lamar Miner, and Mrs. Eddington. Ed-dington. The serving table was covered with a beautiful imported hand-embroidered hand-embroidered linen cloth and was centered with yellow and pink rosebuds. Yellow tapers in silver candelabra and a silver tea ser-vce ser-vce were at either end of the table. Mrs. J. F. Wingate, Mrs. W. W. Brockbank, Mrs. Glen Turner, Mrs. H. T. Reynolds, Mrs. C. G. Other program numbers given during the afternoon were vocal duets, Mrs. Earl Groesbeck and Mrs. Oliver Dalton, accompanied by Mrs. La-Celle La-Celle Sumsion; vocal duets, Mrs. Howard Thorpe and Mrs. Leon Bird, accompanied by Mrs. Maurice Maur-ice Bird; a high school trio, Beverly Bev-erly Miner, Lula Fox, and Golda Webb, accompanied by Mrs. Mary Witney, and vocal solos, Helen Palfreyman. Mrs. M. W. Bird and Mrs. J. O. Reynolds received the guests. . Dr. Harriet Elliott says this country can amply supply all its needs. f- PIANO STUDENTS ENJOY SPECIAL EASTER PARTY Piano pupils of Mrs. Tess H. Hatfield were delightfully entertained enter-tained Saturday afternoon at a recital and informal Easter party. The recital included piano solos, piano duets, a vocal group, and several piano selections by the hostess. Miss Nancy Kay Perham was guest of honor, and other special guests asked were the Misses Doreen Fox and Marilyn Mendenhall. Menden-hall. At the conclusion of the recital a dainty luncheon was served cafeteria style by the hostess. BRIDE HONORED AT PARTY WEDNESDAY In honor of her sister,' Miss Beth Brereton of Provo, who became be-came the bride of Blaine Larsen of Mapleton on Easter Sunday, Mrs. Gertrude Smith of this city entertained at a miscellaneous shower at her home on Wednesday evening. Lovely spring blossoms decorated the entertaining rooms and a delicious luncheon suggestive sugges-tive of Easter was served. Progressive games were also enjoyed en-joyed and the honored gust was presented with numerous beautiful beauti-ful gifts. WE READERS HEAR BOOK REVIEW An interesting review of the book, "Oliver Wiswell," by Kenneth Ken-neth Roberts, was given by Mrs. Harrison Conover at a meeting of We Readers held Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Maurice Bird.
