Show LEGION ASSISTS WAR EFFORT BY BOOK DRIVE On December 4th, the national commander of the American Legion Le-gion accepted the responsibility of the American Legion and its related relat-ed organizations to assist in the "1943 Victor Book Campaign," which started January 5th. This campaign, which will be for one year and is designed to collect and furnish to the camps and the men in service reading matter and books of the right kind. The men in service are asking for reading material. Full instructions as to this campaign have been sent from national headquarters and cover such questions as: where to collect the books, what to do with them after they are collected, to whom they will be sent, and other details. The citizens are urged to provide pro-vide the boys with books in the same spirit and manner as they have given them playing cards, phonograph records and many other such items. The American Legion collected and delivered 3,926,794 pounds of old phonograph records, Utah posts sending 18,804 pounds or about 37,608 records. According to Commander Harlan Har-lan Boyer, citizens may contact the local Legion for details. |
