Show SCOUT NOTES... By J. F. WINGATE Publicity Director Howard Salisbury gave an interesting in-teresting and instructive talk to the scouts of the district at a court of honor Sunday night in the Ma-pleton Ma-pleton ward chapel. Twelve awards were made during the evening. At a scout meeting Monday night, under direction of Chairman M. W. Bird, several items of importance im-portance to scouting were discussed. discuss-ed. It was announced that large scout camps would be eliminated this year and that only Timpano-gos Timpano-gos camp would be conducted in as much as about 60 per cent of scouts in the district live close to Provo. The fee for camping this year will be 50 cents. There are already 25 camps registered. Camping this year will be localized in smaller groups with emphasis placed on water activities such as swimming, etc. During week-end hikes, religious reli-gious services are to be observed. To complete their scout training train-ing course, a number of scouts participated in an outing at the Headhouse Saturday evening. Ray W. Doman was in attendance. The group took their final lesson and cooked their evening meal over a campfire. They also enjoyed deer and bear stories. The scout group pledged to cooperate co-operate in civic defense featuring first aid work, the classes to be held each night under direction of Lee Miner over a period of five weeks. |
