Show Alpha Beta Club Entertains Federated Club Ladies At Tea i CARNIVAL ENTERTAINS PARANADA CLUB A gay carnival, midway style, proved hilarious entertainment to members of the Paranada club Monday evening when they assembled as-sembled at the home of Miss Edna Oakley. Guests played Keeno, pitched pennies, exhibited marksmanship, and participated in various other carnival contests and guessing games for prizes. Other features were fortune-telling and a side show. Hamburgers and other typical carnival foods were served from a regular lunch counter. Members present were Leola Felix, Virginia Simkins,' Mary Boyer, Tonie Fox, Teddy Thorpe, Fern Ostler, Beth Johnson, and the hostess, and special guests were Beth Butler and Mildred Larsen. FRIENDS ENJOY HALLOWE'EN DINNER Miss Tonie Fox was hostess to a group of friends at her home Thursday night at a gay Hallowe'en Hallo-we'en dinner. The table was centered with chrysanthemums and huge black cats were at either end. Small black witches and their broom-stocks broom-stocks marked places for Arlene Christensen, Mary Boyer, Virginia Simkins, Fern Ostler, Ina Pitcher, Teddy Thorpe, and Mr. and Mrs. Fox. After the dinner, miscellaneous games were played and the group later attended a midnight preview pre-view at Provo. t FAMILY DINNER HONORS ' MILAN L. CRANDALL Complimentary to Milan L. Crandall, on the occasion of his eighty-fourth birthday Wednesday, Wednes-day, his daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Metcalf entertained en-tertained at a family dinner. Guests included besides Mr. Crandall, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Metcalf of Redlands, California, Milan Metcalf of Glendale, California, Cal-ifornia, Mrs. Freeman Bird and children and other immediate members of the Metcalf family. FRIENDS ENTERTAINED AT HALLOWE'EN PARTY Friends of Bob Dalton were delightfully de-lightfully entertained Thursday evening at a Hallowe'en party held at his home. Assisted by his mother, Mrs. Oliver Dalton, a delightful program pro-gram of games and stunts was arranged, ar-ranged, followed by a delicious lunch. Entertaining rooms were u-niquely u-niquely decorated for the occasion with lanterns, ghosts, and goblins. gob-lins. AVE DELMA CLUB HOLDS BUSINESS MEETING Members of the Ave Delma club met Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Norma Noe to hold a business busi-ness meeting, and Mrs. Gwen Cutler Cut-ler was voted to become a member in place of Ann Johnson, who is planning to move to Bingham in the near future. One of the major social events of the season in the form of an open session and tea, was given for Springville federated club ladies la-dies Friday afternoon in the Fourth ward Relief Society hall under the sponsorship of the Alpha Beta club. Mrs. W. P. McQullkln, state chairman of the department of international in-ternational relations, introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Burton W. Musser, a past delegate to the Lima conference, who spoke on the subject, "Our Neighbors to the South." Musical numbers were furnished by Richard Murdock of the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young university, and community com-munity singing of "God Bless America," Am-erica," was conducted by Mrs. Kenneth Condie. Mrs. M. R. Straw, chairman of the department of international relations ,of the first district, introduced in-troduced both guest speakers, and Mrs. F. C. Packard, president of Alpha Beta club, presided. An exquisite lace cloth, covered the tea table, which was centered with autumn fruit artistically arranged ar-ranged and tapers in silver candelabra candel-abra at either end lighted the scene. A complete silver tea service ser-vice was used. Miss Ida Worthen and Mrs. Ella Clyde were hostesses and Mrs. W. W. Clyde and Mrs. H. T. Reynolds, Jr., poured. Out of town guests included the guest speakers, and Mrs. W. M. Nebeker of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Sterling Ercanbrack of Provo, and Mrs. Leslie Cornaby of Spanish Fork. |
