Show Program Planned For Armistice Observance k American Legion To Sponsor Holiday Activities Horrors of conflict abroad servo to heighten the importance of Armistice Ar-mistice day in America, for it Is really America's thanks for peace. As a symbol of gratitude to those who fell 22 years ago and as a symbol of hope to the living that war will never again come to America, Am-erica, Legion posts throughout the nation are sponsoring patriotic Armistice Ar-mistice day programs to commemorate commem-orate the day that means so much to Americans, in tribute to the dead of the great war. Under the direction of the Springville post of the American Legion, several patriotic Armistice programs have been planned under un-der the direction of H. T. Reynolds, Rey-nolds, Jr., and Commander John Miller, to take place In the wards, schools, and other public places during the coming week. Sunday evening, Attorney Joseph Jo-seph Nelson of Spanish Fork will be the principal speaker on a Legion program to be given in the Mapleton hall. Marcellus Nlelson of Mapleton will also be a speaker. speak-er. Musical numbers, including selections by the Legion Auxiliary chorus, are also planned for that night. On Armistice day, a program beginning at 11 a. m. -will be given giv-en in the high school under the direction of Mr. Reynolds at which District Attorney Stanley Dunford will be the principal speaker. Other patriotic program features are also being arranged. Under the stress of conditions abroad, memories of those who gave their lives in the last World War should be a sobering influence influ-ence in the lives of all Americans in creating hope and determination determina-tion that in America, through being be-ing defensively strong, there shall always be peace. Armistice Day, Monday, should create that feeling of patriotism and gratitude to the dead of that other war and a feeling of hope for the future. |
