Show Poppy Day Set Saturday; Poster Winners Named When townspeople see poppy posters in windows about town this week, they will be reminded of the annual Poppy Day sales Saturday. The day has been set aside in Utah as a day of remembrance for those who gave their lives that America might live. The poppies, which will be worn by townspeople and citizens throughout the state Saturday, are made by disabled veterans in their hospital and poppy workrooms. work-rooms. The poppy is made of crepe paper because this material is easily shaped by weak or crippled hands to resemble the crimson flower that blooms between the crosses in foreign cemeteries. This occupation is instrumental in bringing back health, pride and a renewed interest in life, because it gives the veteran something to do to earn money and it provides him an enjoyable experience. Poppy Poster Winners To stimulate interest in the poppy pop-py sales, the local unit of the American Am-erican Legion Auxiliary, which will be in charge of sales Saturday, Satur-day, sponsors a Poppy Poster contest con-test in the schools each year. This year Mrs. Emma Long was the chairman in charge of the contest and she announces the following winners. Each will receive a cash award at the Legion Auxiliary meeting next Wednesday evening. The winners are: Class 1. 4th, 5th and 6th grades, Eugene Coleman, Cole-man, Grant Sixth, first place; and Kathleen Russell, Dennis Lofgran, Connie Diamond and Kent Tipton of the 4th and 5th grades, second place.
