Show City Varns Water Users; Turns Down Tennis Bids All three bids submitted to the city for the installation of tennis courts at the Memorial park were considered too high by the council coun-cil and therefore were not let, Recorder Re-corder Lloyd Ashcraft announced this week. The bids were opened at the council meeting Monday evening. Bidding on the job were Vernon Hurst of Spanish Fork, Gregg Crandall and Prothero and Board-man Board-man of Springville. The latter firm submitted the low bid of the three. At the council meeting it was decided that the city would furnish fur-nish material for two new bleacher sections at Memorial park, the National Guard having offered to do the work. The city also decided to go along with part of the expense with the Chamber of Commerce of putting signs on the south and north en-trances en-trances of the city informing travelers trav-elers of the art exhibit, of Spring-ville's Spring-ville's cold drinking water and of the picnic grounds and parks. The signs are to cost a total of approximately $60. The city is also considering appointment ap-pointment of someone to patrol the town to pick up anyone who is using the sprinkling hose without a ticket or at times other than that specified on the ticket. Tickets Tick-ets should have been secured by April 1. Only those people who have a water meter installed, can sprinkle sprin-kle at any time, officers point out. They state also that the city can hardly keep up with the requests for installation of meters. |
