Show PUBLIC INVITED TO SEE NEW "HYPO" Townspeople are invited to see the first highway .post office in the Rocky Mountain west, which will make a stop in Springville on its first return run to Salt Lake City from Richfield Monday, January 23, at 3:55 p.m. The welcoming committee in this city will include representatives representa-tives from the Chamber of Commerce Com-merce and many other interested citizens who will be on hand to extend appreciation to those postal post-al officials responsible for this fine modern method of mail transportation. trans-portation. On the inaugural trip will be several officials including Paul Aiken, general superintendent of postal transportation service, of Washington, D. C; also George Miller, a deputy second assistant post master general in charge of postal transportation, Washington D. C; John C. Livingston, general superintendent of postal transportation transpor-tation service, Eighth division, San Francisco; Herman B. Askew, superintendent sup-erintendent of postal transportation transporta-tion service, Ogden, and Elton A. Davis, president, Eighth Division National Postal Transportation Association. Post office workers will sort, pigeon hole, sack, and do everything every-thing they would do with mail in a regular post office whil-e the coach is traveling. When they arrive ar-rive at a station the mail will be ready for distribution. Stops will be Provo, Springille, Spanish Fork, JPayson, Nephi, Fountain Green, Maroni, Birds-eye, Birds-eye, Fairview, Mt. Pleasant, Spring City, Ephraim, Manti, Sterling, Mayfield, Gunnison, Oenterfield, Axtell, Redmond, Salina, Aurora, Sigurd, Venice Road Junction. The Hypo will arrive in Richfield Rich-field at 7 a.m. A unit will leave for the return trip at 2 p.m., stop at all the stations, and arrive in Salt Lake City at 9:15 p.m. Monday. Mon-day. The first Hypo route was established es-tablished in 1941 betwen Washington, Wash-ington, D. C, and Harrisonburg, Va. There are 336 routes now served ser-ved by Hypos. The Salt Lake City-Richfield City-Richfield route vill be the first in the Rocky Mountain West. ! A star route has served the Richfield-Salt Lake City run since the Marysville branch of the Denver Den-ver and Rio Grande Railway quit carrying passengers Aug. 28. The star route will continue to operate in conjunction with the Hypo coaches, and the trucks will carry parcel post and other heavy mail. Stamp collectors desiring to secure se-cure a first run stamp may send letters to Salt Lake City or to Richfield for post mark. |
