Show Wafer Statements To Be Mailed Quarterly Hereafter Culinary water statements are to be mailed out quarterly hereafter, here-after, on April 1, July 1, October 1 and January 1 and following 20 days after mailing if a substantial payment is not made, the service will of necessity be discontinued. This announcement was made today by city officials who point to the fact that the new plan will work to the advantage of the water-users as well as to the city. The city is not in a position to carry delinquent accounts and will be easier for townspeople if they keep their bills current, it was stated, and cooperation of citizens in this matter will be appreciated. Last summer, a canvass of the city was made to determine as nearly as possible the amount of water used by each property owner. own-er. Prior to this, city officials had been informed that because of the city's low water rates as compared with other cities, Springville bonds could not be sold as buyers refused re-fused to purchase them. An investigation in-vestigation proved .this to be true and so water rates were at that time set as follows: First tap of or sink, $10; tub, ?2; toilet,' $2; (Continued on Page Two) Water Statements (Continued from Page One) shower separate from tub. $2; basin, ba-sin, $.50; laundry. $.50. The average aver-age modern home without laundry would be $14.50 or $15 with laundry, laun-dry, plus $3 for sprinkling making an average monthly rate of $1.50. And at the present, cost of operation oper-ation and maintenance is equitable. equit-able. Police Office Moved It is also reported by city officials of-ficials that the city police office is to be moved in the very near future fu-ture from the rear of the City Hall, to the front of the Engineer's Engin-eer's office just south of the Fire Hall. The engineer's office will still occupy part of the building. |
