Show Dick Wight-man of Los Angeles, Calif., former resident of Springville Spring-ville writes his father, Roy D. I Wightman, stating that he is go- j ing to San Diego to take a train- ing course n apprenticeship, at the First Veteran American conference j on Apprenticeship. Dick, whose ; wife is the former Lenore Condie of Springville, is developing an apprenticeship ap-prenticeship program in Los Angeles An-geles and presently has charge of the training of employees in the various departments in Los An- i geles county. Sirs. Hattie Wililams and Mrs. Pearl Hall returned home recently from a most enjoyable trip to the east with the BYU group. They covered 23 states and traveled approximately ap-proximately 7000 miles. Among the many places of interest they saw, were Carthage and Nauvoo, HI., Hill Cumorah and the LDS pageant, pag-eant, Joseph Smith's home, the Sacred Grove, Niagara Falls, New York, Philadelphia,- Pa., Washington, Washing-ton, D.C., at which they visited Arlington Ar-lington cemetery, Mt. Vernon and other places. They were gone about three weeks. ' Mr. and Mrs. Kuel Avorett and their daughter, Mrs. Mabel Sim-kins Sim-kins and two children Randy and Jimmie left Monday evening by train for Delta, Colo., where they will visit their son and brother, Ronald Averett and family for a week. IIr. and Mrs. Edwin Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Benny Olsen spent an enjoyable time at Yellowstone Park recently. i ()3irtliS ... Boy, to LeRoy and Fay Staples Starr August 23 at Salina, Utah. The new arrival has a sister. LeRoy, Le-Roy, who is employed with soil conservation work in Salina, was recently made a bishop of an LDS ward in the town. Boy, to Clari Eugene and Juan-ita Juan-ita Curtis Mower, August 13, at the Payson hospital. Parents Travel East to Attend Son's Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Thcron Hall and sons Hilton and Allan, returned Tuesday of last week from Washington, Wash-ington, D.C., where they went to attend the wedding of their son Clifton and Sara Stout of Blad-ensburg, Blad-ensburg, Md., which took place on August 14 at the Captiol LDS ward chapel. Clifton is attending the Naval school at Washington, D.C., taking tak-ing advanced training in radar and electronics. His bride is a daughter daugh-ter of Mrs. Blanch Albert!. Enroute to Washington, D.C.. the Halls visited places of LDS cvhurch historical interest including includ-ing Council Bluffs, Nauvoo, Carthage, Carth-age, 111., Palmyra, N.Y., Hill Cumorah, Cum-orah, Sacred Grove, Joseph Smith home and farm. They saw Niagara Falls, crossed the state of New York and spent a short time in New York City and toured points of interest before going to Washington. Wash-ington. Here they also saw many interesting places as well as attending at-tending their son's weddin. Thoy returned by way of Richmond, Va. Girl, to Ray and Joyce Fullmer Lewis, August 20, at the Payson hospital. Boy, to Jay R. and Lyal Stanton Bingham, Thursday, August 20, at Utah Valley hospital. |
