Frandsen Electrical Storm Strikes in Several Places, Starts Fire in Hobble Creek Lightening did considerable damage in a brief electrical storm here on Thursday of last week, striking in several places. .The lights along Main street were burned out and a lamp post at the city park was struck completely com-pletely disintegrating the electric lighting fixtures and leaving the post charred and black. A power meter at Ruff's Garage Gar-age was burned out and semaphore at Main and Center St. was blown out, city officers reported, j At the John Hardy residence on Third East, Fourth South, a bolt struck a large tree in their yard, tearing off bark and cuting an inch or two into the tree several feet down the trunk. The telephone tele-phone wires were also put out of commission in the vicinity. The lightening also started a costly fire on the mountain at the mouth of Hobble Creek, necessitating neces-sitating all night work by firemen fire-men and volunteer workers to extinguish ex-tinguish the blaze. It burned over some 23 acres of grazing land it was stated. |
