Show Students Return From Arizona , Music Event A number of Springville high school students returned Thursday evening from Tucson, Arizona, where they participated in the California Cal-ifornia Western Division of Music Educators conference. The young musicians performed in the All-Conference All-Conference Orchestra with other highly rated music students from high schools of Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Ari-zona, California and New Mexico. Selected from the Springville High were Louise Ekker, timpani; Delia Gogarty, violin; June Johnson, John-son, clarinet; Betty Ann Hoover, violin; Wayne Ostlund, Paul Mor-tensen, Mor-tensen, trombone. Another distinction came to the Springville high school inasmuch as Harmon Hatch, who heads the instrumental department of music at the school, was named as organizing or-ganizing chairman of the confer-3nce confer-3nce musical groups for this year. An all-conference high school chorus and symphonic band was also heard by the delegates to the meet. Paul Mortensen and Betty Hoover Hoov-er were selected from all the Utah students for an interview over a radio station at Tucson on the music event. |
