Show City Council Backs Community Events; Selects Fiscal Agent for Sewer Plans The city agreed to cooperate with the Black Hawk committee in getting the annual encampment in Springville this summer; to cooperate also with the National Guard unit in sponsoring spon-soring a Fourth of July celebration and to back the publicity committee com-mittee of the Chamber of Commerce Com-merce in a project to publicize the town, at a regular council meeting Monday evening. The mayor and city council also approved the appointment of J. A. Burrows of the Edward L. Burton. Finance Co., of Salt Lake City, as the fiscal agent for sewer planning and financing of the project. Mr. Burrows is presently going-over going-over figures and terms of agreement agree-ment between the city and his company and the agreement is to be drawn up and sent to the mayor ma-yor for his approval at a later date. Before the agreement is drawn up however, considerable data must be secured in regard to the number of present sewer connections, the number which could be connected and the possibility of extending the sewer for complete city connections. connec-tions. The problem of the type of bonds which will be best to finance the project must also be worked out. In the meantime, city officials and the finance company's representatives repre-sentatives are going over several sites for the proposed sewage disposal dis-posal plant. A resolution from the city recreation rec-reation board was presented to the council in which it was stated that the board recommended installation installa-tion of bleechers and lighting of Memorial Park for baseball, football foot-ball and other forms of recreation, with the stipulation that no activity activi-ty took place at the park on Sunday. Sun-day. Plans were discussed at the council coun-cil meeting for letting out on bids the three city pastures for summer grazing, the bids to be opened on April 5. The council also discussed suggestions sug-gestions made by the Springville Planning board in regard to the purchase of more ground at the ' site of the proposed Westside grade school and also the need of more roadways leading to the school. Several other minor problems and proposals were taken up during dur-ing the meeting including a proposal pro-posal by a representative from the Salt Lake Tribune for advertising in a special scenic edition which was turned down by the council. The council also accepted a bid from G. Lowry Anderson for a new police car, the automobile to be delivered as soon as possible. |
