Show Music Club Begins Year's Study Course Introduction to., the., year's course of study was made at a meeting of the Springville Federated Fed-erated Music Club Friday when members met at the home of Mrs. A. LeRoy Erickson. The course, entitled, "Listening to Music Creatively," Crea-tively," is based on Edwin John Stringham's book in which he attempts at-tempts among other things to introduce in-troduce the reader to a "broad world of music to help break down the barriers that might have caused some of it to seem strange to him." Mrs. George Brailsford presented present-ed the story of the Art Song, known as the Lied Song, "the city cousin of the folk song," and said that it was known for its perfect fusion of melody and words. She listed among art song composers Sfhuhert. Schumann, Brahms, Grieg and Tchaikousky and m America, McDowell, Carrie Jacobs Ja-cobs Bond, Cademan, Laurence and Nevin and gave something of their lives. . The musical portion of the program pro-gram was arranged by Mrs. Evelyn Eve-lyn Boyer with a number of talented tal-ented musicians presenting compositions com-positions by each of .the art song writers. Taking part on this phase of the program were Ellen Anderson, An-derson, Edna Nielson, Frances Clark, Evelyn Boyer and Hannah Rowland who gave vocal solos, Alzada Wilmott, Lucille Erickson,, Mary Bird, Zara Tonks, Mary Witnev- Yvonne Johnson, accompanists accom-panists Eileen , Bird vaohmst; Betty Sumsion, pianist; Mary Verl Maycock, reader, and a double composed of Frances Clark Alice Wilcox, .AnnanePhnda freyman, Marjorie Bird, Philda Finlev, Mary Witney. .
