Show U.S. Navy Band To Give Concert Tuesday in Provo One of the finest opportunities for all citizens of Central Utah to hear music played in the tradition of the great bands will be presented pre-sented Tuesday. Sept. 30 when the famed United States Navy Band, "the world's finest." presents two concerts at the Brigham Young University Field House in Provo. A matinee performance is scheduled sched-uled at 3 p.m., with the evening concert slated at 8 p.m. The band's appearance is being sponsored by the Provo Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds will go to Brigham Young University for use in defraying expenses of a color sound film to be produced advertising adver-tising the university and Central Utah. Director of the band of nsarly 100 individual artists is Lt. Comdr. Charles Brendler, who has been an active member for 25 years. The band contains within itself a complete' symphony orchestra which presents the works of the great masters as skillfully as any group in the country. On the other hand, its ultra-modern "Swing-phonette" "Swing-phonette" section gives sparkling personality to light operas and the latest "bebop." Interspersing the numbers presented pre-sented by the entire ensemble will be appearances of solo artists in ' specialty numbers. |
