Show Kiwanis Will Be Hosts To School Teachers At Dinner Meet Tonight J. C. Moffit, superintendent of Provo City schools will address the Kiwanis club this evening, when they will be hosts to the school teachers of Springville and Mapleton. announces President George Bird. With an aim of creating a spirit of good will, community interest and to become better acquainted with the teachers of those two towns the Kiwanis club sponsors the Teacher's program and dinner-meeting dinner-meeting annually. Approximately one hundred guests are expected. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m., at Chicken Roost, with members of the club's music and program committee in charge with Erwin Sheffield, Seminary instructor, toastmastea- Dillon Frazier is chairman of the committee, com-mittee, which besides Mr. Shef- field, includes: Glenn Holley, Verl Whiting, Howard Maycock, Harvey Har-vey Robbins. Senator Arthur V. W'atkins (R- Utah) told members of the Springville Spring-ville Kiwanis Club last Thursday night that the international trade policies of the Democrat administration admini-stration are leading Utah's mining, livestock and agricultural industries indust-ries to ruin. Senator Watkins, Who is seeking re-election, told the Kiwanians that the Democrats are encouraging encourag-ing and perpetuating policies that make it impossible for Utah producers pro-ducers to compete in the American Ameri-can market with foreign imports of metals, wool, meat and other agricultural products. As an illustration, he cited the present situation confronting- the non-ferrous mining industry. "The Democrats discourage the development of our mining resources re-sources on Federal lands; they establish es-tablish high prices for foreign copper cop-per and pay domestic producers 3 per cent less; the Democrats force domestic lead and zinc prices pri-ces down to a point where our domestic do-mestic mines cannot compete with foreign importations and they refuse re-fuse to allow mandatory provisions of law that require the government govern-ment to protect the industry. |
