Show Promise Of Future Seen In Economic State Development Hope for the future of the state, and its way of life, was held out in the State Economic Development Develop-ment Clinic, held in Salt Lake City which attracted more than 200 of the state's industrial, civic, government gov-ernment labor and agricultural leaders, lea-ders, and was keynoted by Governor Gover-nor J. Bracken Lee. Present from Utah county were Burton H. Adams, Pleasant Grove, Bill Baker, Orem, I. Dale Despain, Provo, J. Clark Elmer, Payson, Clayton Jenkins, Provo, M. E. Kartchner, Jr., Orem, A. E. Kohl-emainen, Kohl-emainen, Provo, J. A. Miller. S. E. Price, W. J. Phillips and Harrison Conover, Springville; Dan McCur-dy, McCur-dy, Provo, H. F. Tucker, Provo, William J. Walter, American Fork, Lottie M. Worthen, Provo, J. W. Gillmore, mayor of Orem, Walter Devey, American Fork, and Paul Sullivan of the Geneva Steel company. com-pany. Mr. Conover and Mr. Sullivan were speakers at the public relations rela-tions panel of the clinic, Mr. Sullivan Sulli-van speaking on "The need for a Balanced Utah Economy" and Mr. Conover on the problems of local service industries in smaller communities com-munities with the subject "Promoting "Pro-moting Local Economic Development Develop-ment Projects." The clinic made plans on a statewide state-wide basis to cooperate with local communities in the promotion of the establishment of new and expanded ex-panded industries in the smaller communities, by providing advice, information and briefs on a state basis to supplement the local communities' com-munities' own promotion of their attractions, their natural resources and their industrial possibilities.
