Show There were two neighbors who lived on opposite sides of the railroad rail-road tracks which ran through the main part of town. One owned a beautiful bulldog named Carbolic, Car-bolic, the other owned a cat without with-out a name. One day the cat became the mother of a number of little kittens. kit-tens. And soon after the bulldog went on the cat's side of the track. The proud mother refused to run but gave the dog one lightning stroke, wherupon the dog, howling howl-ing with pain, made a bee line for home followed by the enraged cat. A passing train struck the dog killing him instantly. Several neighbors met to view the situation. The dog owner took it philosophically. "Of course, I hate to lose Carbolic, a wonderful dog," he said, "but what I hate most is the humiliation he suffered." |
