Show Dry Grass Fires ( Keep Firemen Busy Past Week Grass fires resulting from the dry hot summer has kept the Springville fire department busy the past few days and while the damage has been kept to a minimum mini-mum so far as property owners are concerned, the cost has been high to the city. One grass fire on Thursday of last week at 345 North First East St. to which the department was called, resulted in injury to a fireman. fire-man. Bert Taylor in stepping from the truck into a hole, chipped the bone and cracked another in his ankle necessitating his being off his foot for a time. No damage was reported from the fire. Another blaze out of control at 686 East Center, started in dry grass and burned a small coop resulting re-sulting in $75 damage. 'Another the day before to which the department de-partment responded, was in burning burn-ing grass at 50 East Third North. No damage reported. The two fires Tuesday, totaling five in a week all resulting from dry burning grass, were at a vacant va-cant lot at 561 South Main and at the Mendenhall Construction Co. yard near the old sugar factory, with no damage - resulting from either fire. A fire on Wednesday of last week was reported started by children and matches burned a pile of boxes near Cragun's market mar-ket and then spread to a fence and a hog-pen. Firemen arrived in time to keep the fire from further spreading and prevented further damage.
